Delete your data
Effective & last updated: August 17, 2026
byta requires an account (email/password, Apple, or Google sign-in) to use the app. This page explains what's stored against your account and how to remove it, both instantly on your device and, on request, from our servers.
What's stored, and where
Using byta creates the following, all keyed to your account:
- Your account (email, and Apple/Google identifiers if used to sign in)
- Your scan history
- Your allergen / "avoid-list" selections
- Your optional free-text health note and its summary
- Any product photos or corrections you've contributed
- Pre-order or subscription entitlement status, if applicable
This data is stored on our backend (Supabase) so it's there the next time you sign in on any device. It is never sold, or used for anything beyond running byta for you.
Delete on your device right now
No waiting, no request needed — these are available anytime in the app:
Clear your allergen / avoid-list
Settings → Allergies & things to avoid → tap any selected item to deselect it.
Clear your health note
Settings → Your health, in your words → tap Clear under your saved summary. This deletes the note and its summary immediately.
Remove everything local to this device
Uninstall byta. This deletes locally cached data from your device. Your account and server-side data (history, avoid-list, entitlement status) remain until you delete your account — see below.
Delete your data from our servers too
Uninstalling removes what's on your device, but your account and its synced data remain on our servers until you ask us to delete them. To request full deletion:
Email us a deletion request
Send a message to support@byta.health with the subject "Delete my data," from the email address your byta account uses (or your Apple/Google sign-in email).
We locate and permanently delete it
We'll delete your account and remove your scan history, avoid-list, health note, and any contributed photos from our servers within 30 days.
We confirm
We'll reply to confirm once deletion is complete.
Aggregate, de-identified information that can no longer be tied back to you (for example, product-level statistics contributed to a shared open database) isn't something we can retroactively pull out of that shared resource, and isn't personal data once de-identified.
Waitlist email (separate from the app)
If you signed up for the byta waitlist on our website, that email address is stored separately from any in-app usage data. Unsubscribe via the link in any email we send, or email support@byta.health to have it removed.

Any question about your data, not just deletion — we're glad to help.
